Meditation is used to help people clear their minds and gain a sense of balance in their lives. It also helps to relax their bodies and unwind from the day. There have been multiple studies showing how meditation has great health benefits. Some of these health benefits include improved mental health, lower stress and anxiety, better focus, and its even been shown to help with certain diseases like allergies and arthritis.

There are various meditation styles that are used around the world. One type of meditation methods used is concentrative meditation. During this type of meditation, a person focuses on a particular thing. It can be anything ranging from an item, or an image in their head. Some people even focus on a certain sound or chant, and their own breathing. Yoga is one type of meditation style that focuses on imagery and breathing.

There are several styles of yoga and usually people choose the one that best fits them. Another type of meditation that focuses on breathing and gentle flow of the body is tai chi. It is known to have great health benefits, like relieving tension and stress. The goal of concentrative meditation is dig deep into and communicate with the subconscious mind, and doing this by clearing away the conscious mind.

A second category of style of meditation is mindfulness meditation. During this type of meditation, instead of focusing on one thing or sound, you are allowing all thoughts to flow through your mind and you are aware of everything that enters into your mind, including sounds, images, feelings, and much more. With this type of meditation, one would focus on their breathing and become in tuned into their feelings, allowing everything to come and go. All feelings and thoughts are appreciated and acknowledged. Mindfulness meditation is all about being in the present moment and embracing what is happening right now.

There is another type of "meditation" used all around the world, called prayer. Prayer links us to a Higher Power. We feel as if we are communicating directly with the Divine. People pray in different ways depending on their religious beliefs and styles. However, the concept and purpose is the same, to become closer with the Divine. Several studies have shown that people who believe in a Higher Power, and pray tend to be more happy and satisfied with their lives. They are able to cope better with certain situations and adapt and push through difficult times more easily.

No matter what style of meditation is used, the benefits seem to be the same, a healthier lifestyle. People seem to improve their lives on a mental, physical, and spiritual level through meditation. This is probably because we become more connected to a Higher Power and therefore we gain the sense of clarity and direction needed. As a result, we become more optimistic and happy about their lives. A few minutes of meditation everyday could truly impact one's life significantly.
